These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Whiskr mobile application, the Whiskr community features, and the Whiskr Premium subscription (together, the "Service"), operated by at² GmbH ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Whiskr you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Whiskr is a journal and community for whisky enthusiasts. It documents and discusses alcoholic beverages, and is intended exclusively for adults. You may only use the Service if you are of legal drinking age in your jurisdiction (and in any case at least 17 years old, matching the App Store age rating). Whiskr does not sell alcohol and does not encourage its consumption — please enjoy whisky responsibly and never drink and drive.
The core app is a local-first tasting journal: your collection, tasting notes, taste profiles and photos are stored on your device and work without any account. Optionally, a free account adds:
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account); deletion permanently removes your account and server-side data as described in our Privacy Policy.
You keep all rights to the content you create in Whiskr (tastings, notes, photos, catalog contributions). So that the Service can work, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display and distribute the content you choose to share:
When using the community features you agree not to post content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, pornographic, misleading, or unrelated spam — and not to impersonate others or manipulate the reputation system. You must have the rights to any photo you upload.
Every public content surface offers a report function. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, temporarily block, or delete accounts that violate these rules. Catalog contributions are reviewed before they become publicly visible. We may also remove any content or contribution where required by law or by rights holders.
Whiskr Premium is an optional supporter subscription. It funds the independent development of Whiskr and grants recognition on your community profile (Pillar badges and supporter points). Community rank and privileges cannot be bought — reputation is earned through contributions only. Core features, including cloud sync and the community, remain free.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your App Store account and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Prices are shown in the app and may vary by region; price changes are announced in advance and apply from the next billing cycle. Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store terms.
If a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Trial periods do not earn supporter recognition.
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully; attempt unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data; scrape, overload or disrupt the Service; reverse engineer the app except where permitted by law; transmit malware; or circumvent moderation or rate limits.
The Whiskr app, its design, and its branding are the property of at² GmbH. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or software beyond the personal, non-transferable right to use the app on your Apple devices in accordance with the App Store terms.
The Service is provided "as is". Community content (ratings, taste profiles, catalog data) is user-generated and provided without warranty of accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and — in cases of simple negligence — only for the breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Mandatory statutory liability (e.g. for injury to life, body or health) remains unaffected. You are responsible for backing up your local data.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (see Section 5). Sections that by their nature survive termination (4, 8, 9, 11) remain in effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. The current version is always available at whiskr.at2dev.de/terms.
